“God Gave Me a Word & My Color Back”

-Jakira Scott

The Beginning of Ms. Scott Studios
 Jakira’s Journey began with a dream—literally.

In 2021, Jakira Scott’s paternal grandmother, a woman of deep faith and spiritual discernment, told her that God was calling her to pursue her art. Everything her grandmother had ever spoken had come to pass. Yet at the time, Jakira didn’t take it act on this call.. She didn’t even know what kind of art her grandmother meant. She was too busy chasing everything else — building businesses, studying graphic communications, acting in plays, and earning a cosmetology license. “Basically everything except what He told me to do.”

She ran, like Jonah.

“The Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants the prophets.” — Amos 3:7

“But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish.” — Jonah 1:3

Like many artists, she began to believe that art was a dead end. Still, she hustled hard, convincing herself: “If I just work enough…” — as if God needed her plans or her funds. Instead of fulfillment, it led to burnout, exhaustion, and dangerous distance from God. Eventually, she came to a breaking point.

Beauty From the Breaking

That breaking point became the beginning of something greater — a turning point that would redefine everything. Life’s hardships stripped away the noise, leaving space for God to speak clearly. What Jakira had been missing wasn’t more effort, but obedience, faith, and most of all, surrender.

“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” — Psalm 127:1

In February 2024, her paternal grandmother passed away. The loss was crushing. In the middle of her grief, Jakira fell to the floor in tears — and the first thing she reached for was her iPad to sketch. Drawing had always been her safe space, her way to process emotions when words fell short. But after that moment, God reminded her of something deeper: The art wasn’t her refuge — He was.

From that place of pain and peace, she found her way back to the gift God had given her — and to the calling her grandmother had spoken years before.

The year didn’t get easier: In March, a car accident. In May, the heartbreaking loss of her maternal grandmother & Paternal Aunt. Hospital stays, heartbreak, health scares, panic attacks and pain. These moments weren’t sent by God — but through them, His comfort, direction, and faithfulness became clearer than ever.

The Word: Raṅga

Through it all, she prayed: “Lord, should I really be doing this?” In His mercy, He answered in a dream — with a single word:Raṅga. Unfamiliar with Sanskrit, she looked it up and was stunned. Raṅga (RUNG-uh) — color, hue, performance space, stage, play, joy. In her spirit, she heard her grandmother’s voice again: “Do your art.”That one word captured everything — her painting, design, writing, even her singing. What life’s circumstances had dulled, God was now restoring.

“He makes all things new.” — Revelation 21:5

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” — Romans 8:28

Where Color Meets Calling

That was the moment everything aligned. Ms. Scott Studios wasn’t born from ambition, but from obedience. Not from pressure, but from purpose. Not from striving, but from surrender. It became more than art — it became an assignment. A sacred space where grace, faith, and artistry meet, and where all glory returns to the first Creator, God.

Today, Jakira creates not from exhaustion but from joy. Not from performance but from presence. Every piece she creates reflects the journey she’s walking with the Lord — beauty rising from surrender, color flowing from grace.

The Mission

Ms. Scott Studios exists to build something lasting — art that reflects faith and creation, drawn from the Spirit and inspired by life. Every painting, design, and creative work is a testimony: that God restores, redeems, and repurposes what we surrender to Him. This isn’t just a business — it’s a walk of obedience. A journey of faith and art. A reminder that grace truly can be made visible. A Journey in Faith and Art. Creation begins with a word from God and flows from His faithfulness. Genesis 1

Ms. Scott Studios Will continue to grow as a reflection of the Lord’s grace in Jakira’s life — a place where art, obedience, and life intersect. What started as one woman’s return to her calling will become a journey, showing how surrender and faith can transform gifts into purpose. Here, every color, every design, every creation quietly testifies to God’s faithfulness, His restoration, and His presence in every step of the journey.
